Happy Monday, friends!  We’re almost a full week into May and I am in complete denial over here.  The days are longer and more full of adventures in the sunshine and our calendar is about to burst with activities that we are excited about.

This month is the fun time between Spring, when everything still feels fresh and new, but before Summer when it’s just plain hot over here.  The pollen is (mostly) going away and we just love it.

This post is in collaboration with Simply Earth and contains affiliate links.  As you know, I only partner with brands and products that I use and love and all experiences and opinions are my own.  You can use my code ML20FREE to receive a $40 gift card to Simply Earth with your first box purchase!

We’re going to jump right into today’s post.  Last month, you might remember that I shared a review of my first Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box.  In case you missed that post, you can find it here.

An honest review of Simply Earth Essential Oils - An Affordable Essential Oil Subscription Box to help you create a more natural home. #naturalhome #essentialoilsDo you

Today I’m excited to share Simply Earth’s new May box with you, which is all about pet care!

Now, if you know me in real life, you might be thinking, “but wait – you definitely do not have pets…” and you’d be right.  We don’t,  But one of my sisters who lives nearby to us has a sweet little pup, Chance, and so this month I got to share my box with her.

We spent a fun sister afternoon together creating some of this month’s essential oil recipes and she and Chance have been able to take advantage of them since.

Sweet sister and pup, Chance.

What’s in This Month’s Simply Earth Essential Oils Box?

The Simply Earth Essential Oils Recipe Box is a monthly subscription box that includes 4 full sized bottles of essential oils, recipe cards, supplies, and just about everything you need to make each recipe.  The boxes have a different theme each month, but since you’re getting the full sized oils, you’ll have plenty of oils to continue using beyond just what the recipes call for.

It’s a $150 value, but subscribers get their boxes for just $39 each month.

And, when you use my link and coupon code: MLFREE20 to make your first purchase, you’ll not only get your recipe box, but also the Big Bonus Box- which includes extras to use with your monthly boxes, and a $40 gift card for a future purchase (aka another box or a few favorite oils for FREE)!

You can see this post to see what we got in our bonus box – and we used lots of it this month!

I also always want to mention that Simply Earth gives 13% of their profits to organizations around the world that are working to end human trafficking.  Each box includes a special card with information about that month’s partner organization and resources where you can find more information if you wish.

Just like last month, May’s box did not disappoint.

Our Review

This was a super fun box for me since I got to do it with my sister!  We spent the whole afternoon working through these recipes and actually got to 5 out of 6 of them – all but the itchy skin roll-on since Chance tends to have really sensitive skin.

Anti-Anxiety Diffuser Blend

The diffuser blend is always the first recipe I look for in my Simply Earth Box.  This one was a mix of Juniper Berry Oil + the Peace & Quiet Blend.  To be honest, I made this for myself at home before heading over to my sister’s and I’ve enjoyed using in our home – especially on days when both boys take naps and I’m trying to get some work done.

Pet Odor Eliminator Spray

The next recipe we tried was the odor eliminator spray.  I knew this was something my sister would enjoy because she is always working hard to make sure her home stays fresh without smelling like pets.

This recipe was so easy to follow.  We were able to put it together in under five minutes.  We sprayed a small area first to give Chance an opportunity (I almost said “to give Chance a chance”, but thought that might be too much… ;)) to sniff it and see how he responded.

Our recipe card indicated that cats might be more sensitive to some of these oils and provided helpful alternatives if that’s the case.

Thankfully, Chance had no problem with this spray.

To be honest, I wasn’t sure about it at first.  We sprayed the living room and I felt it had a REALLY faint scent.  Like, I could hardly smell it at all.  But after taking Chance out for a quick walk, I could definitely smell the fresh scent when we came back into the house.

It was refreshing and light – not overpowering, but definitely there.  And now I will be making a similar room refresher spray for our house…

Fur & Skin Conditioner

The conditioner was another that was super easy to put together (let’s be real – all of these recipes are easy to make).  We made this, but didn’t try it right away as we wanted to wait to give Chance a bath and then use it on his clean fur.

Saving it for a little doggy spa day.

Paw Balm

This one involved some “cooking” (aka melting beeswax and solid coconut oil*) to make.  But we wanted to make it because Chance’s sweet little paws pads get dry sometimes.

The recipe card suggested to use a double-boiler or microwave safe bowl to melt the beeswax and coconut oil.  We used the double-boiler, but in hindsight, I think it would have been quicker to use the microwave.

We also may or may not have made a small mess pouring the balm into the lip balm tubes, but still ended up with plenty to fill the tubes.

Chance was a little nervous about this since we needed to hold his paws to put it on, but the tubes were the perfect size for his little feet and the balm went on smoothly.  Actually, I used some on my hands and it was super moisturizing for my skin, too.

Like, I almost want to make some for myself…and I’m seeing a trend here.

*Beeswax and coconut oil included in the Big Bonus box, which you can get for FREE when you purchase your first recipe box (here) and use my coupon code: MLFREE20.

Tick & Mosquito Collar

The last recipe we made was a tick and mosquito collar.  Mosquitoes can really bad here in NC during the summer so this will be good to have on hand for Chance’s collar.

This recipe included all the ingredients we needed except the resealable container to store the mixture.  We used a small mason jar (similar to these) and it worked perfectly.

Just look at that happy pet in his Simply Earth Bandana!
