Five on Friday: A Weekly Round-up with Live Well Play Together

Happy Friday and welcome to another edition of Five Things on Friday!  I hope you’ve had a great week and I’m glad that you’re spending part of your Friday with me.  If you’ve been around here, you know the routine.  If you’re new here, welcome!

This week feels like it has been full, but fun and I am glad it is the weekend.  We don’t have big plans this weekend, which always ends up being my favorite.

If you’re into these sorts of posts, be sure to check out lots of other great Five on Friday posts at these link ups:

Now then, let’s get this week’s show on the road!

A Sweet VoxBox from Influenster

You’ve seen me post reviews from Influenster here on the blog before, and I’m excited to have recently gotten another box for review.  This is the “splash voxbox” and it is loaded with all sorts of goodies that I look forward to using.  Anyone else love a good mail day?  I know I’m not the only one.  Also, I ate all the Mike & Ikes within 2 days of getting the box.  Spoiler alert: they’re yummy.

Updating Old Blog Posts

I’ve been spending some time updating old posts here on the blog to make them more reader friendly, and to include pinnable images into them so that they can be shared more easily.  It’s a slow process because I still want to continue creating new content each week, but I am happy with how it’s going.  I was able to update this post this week about the power of words and I’m really pleased with the updates.  I would love you to check it out.

Our words are powerful. Kind words are like honey - sweet to the soul & healthy for the body. Proverbs 16:24

Toddler Life

I shared some of my thoughts this week about watching Little growing up in Wednesday’s Mom Moments post.  But y’all.  We are in full on toddler mode over here and as much as I like to reminisce about the baby days.  Little is a whole new level of fun these days.  He is officially weaned, which was the last little bit of baby-hood we really had left.  Especially after cutting off his sweet baby curls on Memorial Day.

He learns so much every day and repeats quite literally everything he hears.  He knows his letters, numbers, colors, and some shapes and we recently got some new flashcards so he will be introduced to lower case letters.  (Our felt board was a huge help in teaching him each of those things!) Of course, all this learning results in some tantrums and melt downs from time to time, but mostly, I am just so thankful for these days.  He is such a little boy and I love him to pieces.

A New [to me] Podcast

I’ve never really followed podcasts.  But Hubs listens to them regularly – especially while he’s in the car driving.  (side note: I don’t do this because I am usually busy singing kids’ songs…see point above)  I recently downloaded several episodes of Risen Motherhood though and have been listening while I’m getting ready in the morning.  It’s a gospel centered podcast that seeks to encourage mamas with practical, everyday, gospel truth.  It has been a real encouragement to me.  To find out more, check them out online here.  You won’t regret it.

Do you listen to podcasts?  Tell me your favorites.

ABC Flashcards

Finally, we added a new learning tool to our collection this week with these Alphabet Flashcards.  I noticed that while Little could recognize and point out all his letter is upper case, he didn’t perceive the lower case letters to be the same.  That makes sense, right?  I just had never thought about it.  So, I ordered the flashcards with Amazon Prime and there were here in a flash.  We have so much fun with them and I think he is starting to pick up on some of the lower case letters, too.  I’m in no rush for him to learn upper and lower case, but I figured if he had mastered the upper case, I could at least introduce lower case.  These cards are actually great because they only cost $2.99 and actually come with two sets of alphabet cards.  We match them and use them separately as well!  So far, he has loved playing with them!  So if you’re looking for flashcards, I highly recommend these!

Anyone else having a hard time believing that we’re so close to the end of June?  Just me?  Cool.  Next week is our anniversary week and it’s the 4th of July after that!  I want to bottle this time right up – it moves so quickly!!

  1. I love the idea of going back and re-freshing old posts. Maybe if I did one a day.
Podcasts are a great idea for when you’re getting ready, but I tend to forget about them and turn on YouTube instead. Thanks for the recommendation!

  3. Awesome! I find that I am always updating old blog posts, even if I doubt anyone is reading them. It’s the inner perfectionist in me that does it! Glad to see someone else thinks the same way!
