Well, friends, another week has come and gone.  Where is this year even going?  I was looking at my calendar recently and realized that we are so close even to the end of October.  And I just know the holiday season is going to fly by.  Trying to be intentional about enjoying all the little moments and creating special memories with our family.

That said, I’m glad for another Friday and time to share some little snippets of our life with you all.  Things have felt kind of non-stop around here and I’m ready for some time to relax and recharge this weekend.  Anybody else?

Until then, let’s jump right into this week’s post.

Five on Friday: A Weekly Round-up with Live Well Play Together

NC State Fair

On Tuesday this week, we were able to get out to the annual NC State Fair.  Hubs took some time off of work so we could all go as a family (and because no way did I want to navigate it by myself) and we made a whole morning of it!  We spent most of our time finding all the animal exhibits and then ended up just playing in the PBS Kids tent.  Little loved it so much.  I was thankful that he’s still little enough not to want to go on the rides.  (It can be easy to rack up quite the expenses when you start riding all the rides!)

Super Why

Anyone else’s kids have one show in particular that they always want to watch?  We’ve recently really gotten into PBS Kids’ Super Why.  It’s all about literacy, reading, and spelling and Little is a HUGE fan.  The premise is that there are four friends who transform into “Super Readers” whenever one of them has a problem.  They search for answers to problems in books, and learn lots of fun lessons along the way.  Frankly, I think he’s learning a lot from it.  He also really engages with the show’s characters while he watches it, which I really appreciate rather than him sitting mindlessly on the couch.  If you haven’t seen it and have little ones, I’d encourage you to see if it is airing on your local PBS Kids affiliate network.  We’re big fans over here.

Fall Crafts

I’ve also recently started getting into some fall crafts around here.  The cooler weather has me inspired to cozy up things around here.  So far, I’ve been able to update our fall wreath (sneak peak below & full details coming soon!) and have all the supplies to make our family costumes for Halloween this year.  I’m all about simple when it comes to crafts and I’m excited to share some of these with you all.

Home Projects – Update

Last week, I mentioned that we started work on our back deck.  We got the flooring done and the plans for the stairs (we’re moving them to the center rather than far side of the deck) done this week thanks to some of Hub’s co-workers.  They’ve been working together on this project the whole way and I’m excited to see how it comes to completion.  (I’m also really excited to be able to decorate the deck once it’s all done!)

Baby Registry for Baby #2

Finally, I started working on our baby registry for baby #2 this week.  To be honest, I’m a little unsure what exactly needs to be on the registry, but I know that friends and family will start asking about things we want/need soon especially with Christmas coming up, so I wanted to have a list prepared.  I feel like we have a lot of the essentials so I’ve mostly been filling in some gaps, but if you’re a parent of multiples, I’d love to know what some of your must-have items were for baby #2.  What things did you find most helpful?

I’m hoping so! I think we’ll be spending a lot more time in the backyard once we have our second!

  2. Gosh, what did I find useful for baby #2…the fisher price kick piano. I really love the fisher price sit me up seat. Other than that just the same things that I had for baby #1!! I can’t believe how fast this year has flown by either! What a blessed year it has been but so crazy as well.

    1. Mary Leigh says:

Oh, the kick piano! We don’t have one of those. The double stroller is the biggest thing on our list plus a good carrier. I’m sure it will just continue to fly by. The pregnancy sure has!

  3. I love your fall wreath! And congrats on baby #2! For our second child, I think the only things we really needed were boy clothes and a double stroller. I also indulged in some fun things for his nursery. 😉 Good luck!

The double stroller is the biggest thing on my list! Plus a new carrier and some winter clothes since he’s due in winter. It feels so different making a registry this time around, but I know friends and family will start asking about things we need soon, so I’m hoping to go ahead and get it done!

  4. It sounds like the state fair was fun; that’s great you were able to check it out and enjoy the day a bit!

I’m all about crafting, but I’ve mostly been doing it through library events. 🙂
