Happy Friday (the 13th)!  I’m not superstitious, but it is always fun to me when it’s Friday falls on the 13th.  That said, it’s time for another round of Five Things on Friday.  I feel like this week has just flown right on by.  Anybody else?

Similarly to last week, this one is full of random parts so bear with me.

Home Projects

Hubs and I usually make a list at the beginning of each year of projects we’d like to get done that year.  We totally missed it this year.  We made a list kind of, but hadn’t really done much with it until recently.  So far, we’ve added a ceiling fan and overhead light to the only room in the house without an overhead light and this weekend we are hoping to do more work on the backyard deck, which Hubs and some friends tore up last weekend.  It looks like a mess out there right now, but I am actually really excited to see it completed so that I can decorate it and we can spend more time back there.

Little said to me upon seeing the unfinished deck after breakfast: “Mama – go tell Dada that the deck is broken.” He makes my heart melt.

Link Party Directory

In case you missed this week’s post, I recently added a link party directory to the blog.  You can find it here.  I have found that link parties can be a great way to bring new readers to your blog and to find and connect with other bloggers that might share your interests.  My hope is that this page will be a useful resource not just for myself, but for other bloggers that are looking for ways to grow their blogs.

Maternity Jeans

I am on the hunt for a great pair of maternity jeans.  I was pregnant in the Spring and Summer with Little so while I have a pair of jeans, I don’t totally love them.  Since I’m pregnant in the Fall and Winter this time around, I really want to find a great pair of jeans that will last through this pregnancy.  Some things I’m looking for: comfortable, preferably skinny jeans, do not feel and look saggy and need to be pulled up 1,000 times.  Is that too much to ask?  I bought a pair that I thought would work, but ended up having to pull them up so often and they make my bottom looks so saggy.  I got another pair last night with a low panel that seems to also be decent, but time will tell.

If you have a pair of maternity jeans that you love, tell me about it.  I want to know your secrets.  (I also plan to grab some leggings that can be used post-partum as well because comfort and not really trying to break the bank with maternity clothes for the last four months of pregnancy.)

Healthy Choices

If you follow me on Instagram, it’s quite possible that you’ve already seen this yummy thing, but if not, I’ve had this salad twice this week (and will likely have it again today before the ingredients go bad).  My sister planned a soup and salad dinner for herself and her husband this week, which really made me crave a good salad.  Of course, I jumped right on the opportunity to create said salad since I mostly crave carbs and sweet things.  (I would blame this on pregnancy, but I’m not sure that would be 100% accurate.)  Y’all.  My body felt so happy going to be last night having eaten this.  It’s incredible to me how the things we put into our bodies impact us.  It shouldn’t surprise me, but it does.  I’m not giving up sweets, but I want to renew my effort to be a little more intentional.

This spinach salad is a great way to have a healthy lunch

A Good Report from the Doctor

Finally, we had our 24 week doctor visit this week and baby seems to be doing well.  I was also cleared to fly so Hubs and I are definitely planning a vacation.  We are looking forward to some time to celebrate before baby arrives.  I’ll share all the details in later posts, but for now suffice it to say, we are excited about some time away!

Five Things on Friday: A Weekly Round-up with Live Well Play Together

We actually have a pretty full weekend planned this weekend – visiting friends, working on the deck (hoping to get the floor down at least), and I’m traveling to visit my mom for a baby shower celebrating a sweet friend from back home (whose sweet boy shares the same due date as ours!)  Should be a fun weekend, but I am definitely hoping for a productive day today so that we will be well prepared.

What fun plans do you have going on this weekend?
