Five on Friday: A Weekly Round-up with Live Well Play Together

Happy Friday, friends!  I hope you have had a great week.  It’s hard for me to believe that it’s been 3 weeks since my last Five Things on Friday post and I’m glad to be back today.  I would like to have these posts up each week, but life happens, you know?

Anyway, I’m pumped to be back this week.  I’m glad that it’s Friday and we have a weekend with very little travel planned!  Here are five things I’ve loved this week.

Be sure to check out lots of other great Five on Friday posts at these link ups:

A Family Beach Trip

Family Beach Trip

We traveled to the beach for Memorial Day and had a really good time.  I never really know how Little will do on vacations like this, but he had a blast!  He loved being with his grandparents, going to the swimming pool, and even the beach.  He had such a fun time digging for shells and putting them in his bucket.  It was so fun to watch him explore and learn.  This is such a fun age and I want to hold onto every single moment of it.

A Break in Travel

As fun as vacation and weddings are, I am really excited that we don’t have any big travel planned this month.  (By the way, can you even believe that it’s June already?!  Just me?  Ok.) I have been craving time at home and I’m excited that we’re going to be getting it.  We’ve spent lots of time with friends this week and plan to do more over the weekend.  I’m looking forward to not traveling far for a while.

Picnics and Playgrounds

Looking for some free fun with your little one? Pack up lunch and head to the playground!

Next, this weather!  It has been so lovely.  Little and I have been taking full advantage and going to the playgrounds as often as we can.  We’ve got an excellent playground less than 3 miles from our house, so we frequent that one a lot.  One of our favorite things to do is to pack lunch (or in the picture above, dinner) and head over for a picnic and playing.  It’s a ton of fun and leaves me with very few dishes to wash so I’m all about it.

I also recently hit 1,000 followers on Instagram.  This was one of my blogging goals for June 30 and I was really excited to have hit it early.  I’m focusing now on continuing to engage well on Insta but also to grow my Pinterest account (and learn how to better use Pinterest to grow the blog) and to continue growing readership on the blog.  I really enjoy this space, but I definitely have got a lot to learn to feel like a “real” blogger.  I’m hoping to do a three month review post in July of some of the things I’ve learned so far and goals moving forward, so keep an eye out for that.

Little’s First Haircut

Finally, Little got his first haircut while we were at the beach and I have all the feelings about it.  I loved his little curls so much, but they were starting to get into his eyes.  He looks so handsome, but also so much like a little boy and not a baby anymore.  It’s fine, I can come to terms with the fact that he is indeed almost two, which is certainly not a baby anymore, but he still feels like my baby (and I’m sure he always will).  Don’t you worry though.  I promptly scooped up all those little baby curls and saved them in a little bag.  Anyone else do that or is it weird?  I just couldn’t throw them away.

And that’s that.  A busy and full week here, but one that was also really fun.  I hope you all have the most excellent weekend!

In Case You Missed It

I haven’t been totally silent on the blog these days, even though I’ve been absent from the Friday fun.  Be sure to check out my recent posts, 8 Bible Verses I Pray for My Son and Why I Became a Stay-at-Home Mom.  Both are pretty personal posts and will give you a little more insight into my life.

Your turn – tell me something fun about your week or weekend.  Anything.  I love to hear from you!

I know! I still have all the feelings about it!

  2. Visiting from SITS Girls. I love the warm weather…we get to do so much!

Thanks for stopping by! We are glad for the warm weather, too!

  3. I found a white letter sized envelope that had “Joey’s first” printed on it. I was a teenager at the time and curious. I opened the envelope. It was hair. Why wouldn’t you write “Joey’s first haircut” on the envelope?

So it’s gross, but you have to do it! I’d just recommend descriptive labeling. I also have a bunch of my daughter’s baby teeth in various drawers. That beats all for grossness!

I’m also stunned that it’s June! I hope you have a lovely stay home month that doesn’t go too fast.

That is funny! We aren’t to the losing teeth stage yet, but I’m sure I’ll be tempted to save them, too. You’re right – it’s gross. But why is it so hard to let go of those things?
