Happy Thursday, friends!  Is it feeling like Fall where you are?  It’s the leaves are finally falling over here and the air is consistently cooler.  We’ve even had to break out the space heater for some extra chilly nights over here.

If you missed last month’s Date Night In Review, you may remember that we were totally late in getting to it.  But as our calendars start to fill up for holiday activities and celebrations, Hubs and I are working even harder to continue to make Date Night a big priority over here.

Because it is TOO easy to let intentional, one on one time get pushed to the sidelines in the middle of the hustle and bustle.

And we know this, because it’s something that we’ve had our ups and downs with this year since becoming parents of two.  Some days we get the balance and other days we don’t.

If you’ve been around here for a while, you know that we recently started using Date Night In Box (you can see our other boxes here and here) and today I wanted to share a little bit with you about why we love Date Night In Boxes so much, how it helps us keep date night a priority, and give you a little sneak peak of our recent “Fall in Love” themed box.

We received this Date Night In Box for review.  All opinions and experiences are mine alone. This post contains affiliate links.  That means that I will earn a commission if you click through and make purchases through those links. Please see disclosure for more information.

Making Date Night a Priority with Night In Boxes

Hubs and I started dating in college.  We were in the same friend group, so we hung out almost all the time.  Date night was on Wednesdays and we almost always made it happen.  It was something that was important to us and something that we knew we wanted (and needed) to continue once we were married.

You’ve heard that saying to “never stop dating your spouse”? Well, there’s a reason it’s a cliche – it really is important.

We’re not exactly the same people we were back when we were 19 and we are different still than when we first got married.  Continuing to find time to connect and learn about one another is really essential to a healthy marriage.

But sometimes it’s hard to find time to make it happen.

Date Night In Box is a Monthly Reminder that Date Night Matters

While I’d love to still have weekly date nights, y’all.  Life is busy and it moves so quickly.  And kids are sometimes unpredictable.  There are some days that getting the kids to bed and clearing the kitchen is about all that either of us have the energy for.  And I think that’s okay.  It’s the season we’re in.

But I love when I open the mailbox to find our Date Night In Box for the month.  It’s a great, tangible reminder that we need to make time for a date.  To put it on our calendars and spend some time unplugged, enjoying one another’s company.

But Can’t You Do all Those Things Without a Monthly Subscription Service?

Yep.  You absolutely can.  You can find a new recipe to cook.  Or pull out a game from the game closet to play, you can create a customized game list, and you can have meaningful conversation right on your own.  No box necessary.

But when was the last time you did?

Date Night In Box takes care of all the planning and send all the supplies you need right in the box.  You’ll need to cook the dinner, but that’s totally optional.  The rest is there for you.  The activities, playlist, snacks, candle to set the mood – everything.  Right in the box.

And there is much to be said about that convenience.

The fact is, you are WAY more likely to ACTUALLY MAKE DATE NIGHT HAPPEN IF YOU’VE ALREADY SPENT MONEY ON IT.

Because purchasing the box is a sort of commitment to making date night happen to begin with.

Bonus: Date Night In Box is a Great Company That’s Also Doing Good Work

Another thing I really love about Date Night In Boxes is that every single box is packed by individuals with the Tri-Development Center of Aiken County in South Carolina, an organization that works to empower individuals with autism, spinal cord injuries, and intellectual disabilities by providing job training and meaningful work and employment.

Fall In Love Date Night In Box

This month’s Date Night In Box was themed “Fall in Love” and was all things fall.

WHAT’S INSIDE:

This month’s box included:

  • Date Night Guide & Customized Playlist
  • Optional Dinner Menu
  • Superseedz Pumpkin Seeds
  • Candle Making Supplies (Scented Wax, Candle Wick, and Amber glass jar)
  • Piece of wood for decorating
  • Stamp pad
  • Fall in Love Bunco Game Pad and Dice

Our Date Night In

This month’s dinner menu was my favorite yet.  The main course was cheddar & thyme biscuit pot pie and the dessert idea was caramel and chocolate covered apple slices.  And while we didn’t actually make them for our date, I cut out and saved the recipes because I will be making at least the apple slices this Fall…as soon as I get some caramel!

The first thing we did this month we check out the themed playlist.  It was SO good.  I mean, they’re always good, but this one had lots of songs that I know and love and we may or may not have enjoyed some dancing in the kitchen during our date.  It was the best.

Next, we started working on our candle.  Neither of us had made a candle before so this was a fun DIY for us to work together on.  Once it cooled, we were able to light it and enjoy the sweet scent!

For our wood decorating, we ended up skipping the stamp pad for our finger prints, and instead opted to just write out dates that are meaningful to our relationship with lots of space left to continue.

Lastly, we pulled out the Bunco cards and played several rounds of Bunco.  Neither of us had every played before and it was fun to learn something new together.  We ended up totally tied – with each of us winning 2 rounds and losing 2 rounds with no Buncos the whole game!

But, we saved the extra score cards and we’re playing again soon.  I’m always grateful that Date Night in sends extra score cards for all the games so we can go back and play again after our date is over.

We loved it – I knew we would.  It is just always so fun to spend time together.  And Date Night In Box always feels like such a treat.
