Happy Wednesday, friends!  I hope that your weeks are going well!  Wednesdays are actually really fun days to me because once we make it past, it’s officially almost the weekend.  In case you were wondering.

Last month, I did a post about some things going on “currently” and you might remember my saying that I’d like to make it a monthly series.  If you missed that post, you can find it here.

And so without further ado, here’s what’s going on this month around the Live Well Play Together house.

Life currently: A monthly series with Live Well Play Together

Working on

Being more consistent with writing here on the blog.  I think there is a fine balance between writing and promoting, the sweet spot of which I am trying to find.  I am a part of many blogging groups on Facebook and often participate in threads there and link parties from time to time and while there is a clear uptick in traffic from both of those things, they also take away time that I could be writing.  June was the best month so far and July was the worst by a long shot.  This was due in part to my camera not working and also not getting to spend much time writing.  I’m also working to respond to all of your comments from the last week.  I read and try to respond to each of every comment, so don’t worry if you’ve left something and don’t see your comment yet.  I’m getting to it!

That said, I’m also working on a round up of Little’s wishlist for his birthday next month (toddler mamas, send me your favorite ideas for gifts for a two year old!), and I’m hoping to get some style posts shot over the next couple of weekends.  Plus, we’ve got at least one big announcement coming your way here on the blog and I’m always open to your ideas on things that you’d like to see more (or less) of over here.  Basically, September is going to be fun and you do not want to miss it!

Looking forward to

A girls trip with my sisters this weekend (!!!) and the whole month of September.  It’s birthday month around here and my baby brother is getting married, which means another family trip.  I am really so excited!

Wondering

What is the best way to transition Little out of his crib.  I don’t want to be in a super rush about it, but we were away from home last Saturday night and he learned how to flip out of his pack and play.  So basically, that’s done.  In my mind, I think it would be easier to sleep away from home in a non-crib if we also transition from home.  I’m not totally sure about it.

Drinking

Sparkling water.  I know, it’s not new, but it’s new to me and I really like it!  I drink almost exclusively water (save the occasional decaf latte), but used to drink soda before I was pregnant with Little.  The sparkling water keeps me hydrated, but doesn’t have all the junk from soft drinks.  Plus, it feels like such a treat!

Reminiscing about

The solar eclipse.  Is that crazy?  Maybe.  To be totally honest, I didn’t even care that much about it until Monday.  But as soon as Little went down for his nap, I went outside to join my neighbors and got to borrow some glasses.  I’m so glad I did.  It was so neat and I’m really excited that I got to see it.  On a complete side note, it was about 10 degrees cooler during the eclipse and since I’m really looking forward to fall, I was a-ok with that!

What were some of your highlights this month?

  1. Some of my highlights were taking my middle daughter to college and totally feeling the loss of her at our home.

I bet that was a big adjustment! I’m many years out from that now, but I did cry a little watching a video of a friend’s son going to Kindergarten this week, just imagining my little one starting school – so I can only imagine!

  2. Travel for myself and others gets me excited! Have fun in your girls trip and family time. Highlights for month of August..my birthday and then our daughter’s 6 days after. It’s a busy month so I look forward to relaxing September.

Thanks so much! Happy belated birthday to you and your girl! I hope you are able to get some rest and refreshment in September!

  3. A girls weekend with your sister’s sounds fun! Wow you celebrate your birthday the whole month! Way to go.

It was SO much fun! (Also exhausting as quick weekend trips can be, but still really fun!) You know, when companies start sending you the free things in the beginning of the month, you have to start celebrating, right? Now, where is my free cup of coffee? 😉

  4. Let me know when you find that sweet spot of writing and promoting! I’m currently trying to balance writing, working, and being a new mom so I’ll take all the advice I can get 🙂 Also, I wasn’t that into the eclipse until it actually happened, and like you, I’m super glad I got glasses and took some time to go out and enjoy it. What a cool experience!

Or vice versa if you find it, please do the same! It can be tough! I am mostly focused on writing for the time being, but also feel like promotion is helpful, too. Tricky balance. Of course, being a mom always comes first!

And yes – I thought it was awesome and I was really glad I was able to see it!

  5. I like this monthly post! And you are so right about finding that balance. I’m working on it and I think bloggers always will be. I can’t post constantly and I’ve set a two per week goal for myself. One needs to be of substance and the other can be a link up! My rules for myself. Haha. The girls trip sounds wonderful!! And so does the month of September in general. 🙂 We’ve got an exciting September ahead as well – baby should arrive, a couple of birthdays and something else… haha. Anyhoo, happy wednesday!

It is tough to get good content out quickly with littles around, but I try to hold myself to at least once/week for consistency’s sake! And yes, September should be packed full of fun! I am on baby watch around here for your little to arrive – so PLEASE be sure to share! I know you are so ready to meet the new sweet little one!
