Each day, I learn more and more that I must depend on God’s grace in order to best parent Little.  Today I’m sharing 8 Bible verses that I pray often for Little as he grows up.  Many of these are verses that I need to remind myself.  A few of them are specific to Little.

It is my prayer that Little would come to know Christ as Lord, Savior, and friend.  I want to model that well for him and show him the way.  The Bible tells us to “Train up a child in the way he should go, so that when he is old he will not depart from it.”  A big part of that for me is praying scriptures for Little as he grows.

For Wisdom and Courage

“My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad indeed; my inmost being will rejoice when your lips speak what is right.” Proverbs 23:15-16

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example to the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, and in purity.” 1 Timothy 4:12

For Good Friendships that Strengthen & Encourage Him

“Iron sharpens iron; so one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27:17

To Rest in God’s Grace

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9

That Good Gifts would Serve to Point Him to the Giver

“Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17

That He would Love Others Well

  8. I really love this! Something I’ve been learning recently is to be more specific when praying, and I love how you listed specific attributes/types of knowledge/gifts complete with Bible verses with which to back them up.
