Good afternoon and happy Monday, friends!  I hope you had an excellent weekend and that your week is starting out well!  I’m late in the day with this post, but I wanted to stop by and share some of our weekend over here!  You may remember Friday I mentioned that I was heading out for a girls’ weekend with my sisters down in Charleston, SC.  I hoped to get some of the photos together before now, but once we got home all I wanted to do was snuggle up with Little and I didn’t even think about turning on the computer.

I’m working on a full recap of all the fun things we did around town in our short trip, but suffice it to say that we had a blast.  I was excited to get together with my sisters and explore Charleston.  Today I’m sharing just few photos of my sisters and I that we snapped around town.  Many thanks to all the strangers who took a minute to snap some group pics for us!

At the Angel Oak Tree – so beautiful!

We were really fortunate that the weather was in the low 80’s all weekend and it was mostly cloudy so the humidity was not that bad.  You can see the bright blue sky in some of the photos.  It was wonderful weather for being outdoors and exploring.

I think one of the fun parts about this trip was that it was pretty last minute.  One of my sisters lives in Charleston, but is moving at the end of this week.  I had hoped to get down there later in the fall, but when she let us know she was moving soon and gave us a weekend she was free, we hopped on the chance to get down there.

The waterfront park was one of my favorite parts of the city.  It was [as its name implies] right on the water and full of shade, park benches, and the famous Charleston Pineapple Fountain.  It was a nice place to end our day!

On the Battery overlooking the water

And finally, a WAY less glam picture, but one that I’m proud of.  We were able to walk across the Arthur Ravenel, Jr. Bridge while there.  It’s a 5 mile walk just across the bridge and back.  The walk across was find, but the  wind was no joke on the walk back across.  The bridge overlooks the Charleston Harbor and it was absolutely gorgeous.  We were definitely tired after that walk, but so glad that we were able to do it.

All in all a really great weekend that made me want a longer vacation.  I’m already trying to decide if we can pull off a fall vacation this year.

Stay tuned for more pictures from around Charleston coming soon (well, as soon as I can take a look at all of them!)

I’m linking up with Meghan and Biana for their Weekending Link Up!  Be sure to stop by and check out some other great bloggers and how they spent their weekends.

  1. This looks like an amazing time. Charleston is on the list of my must see places. I have heard that it is beautiful and expensive.

It is really beautiful! Fortunately, we were able to stay with my sister, so that cut out a HUGE expense of finding a place to stay and we tried to do really affordable things. But, I can definitely see how it could be an expensive trip – there are SO many things to do and see!

  2. Charleston is one of my faves. The history, the beauty, and the food! Tides Folley is my go to lounging. Next time you are down, take the Gullah tour downtown Charleston. Its fab!

  4. Charleston is one of my favorite cities! My husband and I went there to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. If you get a chance to make it down again, I suggest grabbing lunch or dinner at 82 Queen!

So fun! We’ll have to add it to the list for the next time we are able to go!

  5. Looks like a great trip, and I’m glad you got to go down there before your sister moved 🙂 The battery and pineapple fountain are always great to see, and…confession…the thing I was really bummed that I didn’t do when I visited Charleston was run that bridge. So that’s awesome you got to explore it! When I visited Charleston in December I stayed in a houseboat in perfect sight of the bridge, but since I had the flu there was no way I was going running. Some friends and I are planning to do the Charleston bridge race this spring though 🙂

It was fun! You would love that run! The uphill can be pretty tough if the wind is blowing hard, but still totally worth it. Of course, we briskly walked it though. ?

  6. Looks like you had fun! Charleston is one of my favorite places, but I mostly eat my way though it!

    1. Mary Leigh says:

I can totally see how that could happen. I wanted to do the same!
