Another month – another subscription box review to share with you all!  To be totally honest, these months are going by so quickly, these essential oil recipe boxes from Simply Earth always come as a welcome surprise to my mailbox.  And I can’t wait to dive in, see what’s inside and get to share it with y’all!

This post is in collaboration with Simply Earth and contains affiliate links.  As you know, I only partner with brands and products that I use and love and all experiences and opinions are my own.  You can use my code ML20FREE to receive a $40 gift card to Simply Earth with your first box purchase!

If you are new around here – or if this is your first time reading one of these reviews on the blog, I encourage you to take a minute to check out my other Simply Earth reviews to see more of our experience.  Essentially (pun intended), Simply Earth is a monthly subscription service that sends 4 full sized quality tested essential oils, recipe cards, plus other goodies to help with the recipes each month for just $39 – which is a HUGE deal – considering the value of the box if you were to purchase everything individually is over $150!

And even that is less expensive than many other essential oil brands out there.

So today, I’m sharing Simply Earth’s September Essential Oils box so you can get a sneak peak of what’s inside while there is still time to grab it for yourself.  And, if you keep scrolling, I’ll share how to get your hands on your own box, plus save even more money doing it!

Like I mentioned, each month, Simply Earth’s boxes include 4 full sized essential oils for you to use plus recipe cards, sticker labels, and some of the extras to make your recipes.

Additionally, with your first box and each box after 6 months, Simply Earth includes a “Big Bonus Box” which includes extras that can be used with your boxes each month.  Things like carrier oils, bottles for roll-ons, etc. (I’ll share that in just a minute.)

The Big Bonus Box from Simply Earth

This month, I received a new big bonus box, and wanted to take a minute to share EXACTLY what’s inside so you know what to expect.

Carrier Oils

Roller Bottles

  • 6 large glass roller bottles
  • 6 small glass roller bottles

Extra

  • Beeswax – although maybe this is a carrier also?

Our Review

Whenever my Simply Earth boxes come in the mail, I try to set aside a few minutes in the afternoon to go through everything and put together at least a few of the recipes.

The recipe cards make everything really simple and straightforward to understand and put together.  They even have a note on each one to let you know what to expect in terms of how long each recipe should take so you can easily know what to expect.  Spoiler: none of the recipes really take more than 15 minutes, except the handmade soap in this box, which took about 20 minutes since it needed about 15 minutes to cool and mold.  The others are super simple.

What We’ve Made So Far

One thing that is really important to know about essential oils is that even though they are natural, there are precautions that you need to be aware of before using any oils.

Because I’m pregnant and have young children in our home, I always read about each oil before using it in our home.  For this box, I opted to skip using both the bay oil and cajeput oil for that reason.

To learn more about the oils in your box, check the safety information printed on each bottle of oil, or on Simply Earth’s website if you check the details for the single oils, or in their free Essential Oils for Beginners eBook.  And it’s always recommended to check with a doctor or physician if you have ANY health concerns or are pregnant, breastfeeding, etc.

Happy Joy Roll On

Normally, I make the diffuser blend first, but because this oil smelled so good, I quickly made the roll-on first.  Of course it came together in about 2 minutes – just like the card suggested.

I just added a few drops of the blend and almond oil for the carrier to one of the roll on bottles from my bonus box.  Swirled it together to blend and done.  I’m giving this one to my sister to use since I’m extra cautious about putting things on my skin during pregnancy.

Flowers and Spice Diffuser Blend

Next, I put together the diffuser blend, which is a big hit.  Like I mentioned, I skipped the bay oil and cajeput oil, but even so, this blend smells so fresh and uplifting.

Happy Joy Facial Soap

Lastly, I made the facial soap.  I’ve never made homemade soap before and I knew that I wanted to give this a try. Instead of the Happy Joy blend, I decided to use lavender oil, which I received in a prior month’s box – and it turned out lovely.

I ended up using about half of the soap base that came in my box.  I melted it in the microwave using the instructions on the card and added a few drops of lavender.

It poured easily into the soap mold and was cooled and solid in about 15 minutes.  Because the mold is silicone, it was easy to remove and begin using and I really like it!

Get Your Own Essential Oils Recipe Box

One thing I enjoy about sharing these boxes each month is that I get to share with you the CURRENT box each month.  That means that if you like it, you can get your hands on the SAME box rather than seeing what I got this month, signing up for your own box and getting something different.  This September box is the one that you can CURRENTLY get with a new subscription to Simply Earth.  Of course, while supplies last.

And if you you are looking to learn more about essential oils or add to your collection, it is a deal for real for just $39 – you get the recipe box PLUS the bonus box for first time subscribers.  PLUS, a $40 gift card just for using the code ML20FREE – grab yours here.  (And because Simply Earth’s oils are so affordable, $40 goes a lot further than it otherwise might!)

They make great gifts, too if you have a friend who loves essential oils!
