Happy Friday, friends!  And happy Cinco de Mayo!  I’ll be real honest, on my blog calendar, I made a note that today was Cinco de Mayo and thought how fun it would be to have a Cinco de Mayo themed Five Things on Friday post today.  But life is crazy and I started this week a little behind and I’ve been trying to be really intentional about spending time with Little and keeping our house going this week since I’m traveling again this weekend.  Life happens, you know?

So today, I’m sharing some random bits of life during this fun and busy season.  Like always, it’s a little of this and a little of that.

Be sure to check out lots of other great Five on Friday posts at these link ups:

A Beach Weekend

Five on Friday: A Weekly Round-up with Live Well Play Together

I mentioned earlier that my sister and I were hosting a bachelorette party for our baby sister last weekend.  I’m happy to report that a good time was had by all.  We lounged on the beach the whole morning and into the afternoon on Saturday.   It was truly the most wonderful beach weather.  The sun was warm, the breeze was cool, and the water was still cold enough to cool you off if you got too hot.  We don’t often just lay on the beach, so it was so much fun for me to be able to take advantage of a girls’ weekend to do so.  (I was so excited for Sunday though to see my sweet Little!)

A Successful Pinterest Project

Five on Friday: A Weekly Round-up with Live Well Play Together

I searched all over Pinterest for fun DIY projects to make the bachelorette party special.  My baby sister is all about some glitz and glam, so I knew I wanted something with lots of glitter!  I was thrilled to find these fun diamond donut toppers and knew that they would need to make an appearance.  They were actually really easy to put together.  I’ve got a full tutorial coming to the blog soon with all the details, so stay tuned!  Everyone loved them and I was able to save them for future use if I need them!  Don’t you just love a good, easy DIY?

A Front Porch Ready for Spring

Five on Friday: A Weekly Round-up with Live Well Play Together

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen all these photos these pillows earlier in the spring.  I picked them up from Wal-Mart for just $5 each!  I kept them inside while the pollen was so bad, and decided to put them out this week.  They bring so much color to the front porch, which makes me so happy!  We are officially ready to be outside all day, everyday now!  Little has already tested them out and gives his approval!

A Blanket Fort

Five on Friday: A Weekly Round-up with Live Well Play Together

Hubs gets the credit for this one.  We’ve been playing lots of hide and seek around here these days and Hubs had the great idea to build a blanket fort for Little between the living room and kitchen.  Little LOVES it. Like, he loves it so much we’ve just left it up even when we put away the other toys.

A Month of Blogging at Live Well Play Together

Live Well Play Together: A Family & Lifestyle Blog

Lastly, Wednesday was one month since the official launch of Live Well Play Together.  To say that there has been a learning curve has been quite the understatement.  I feel like I am always learning something new, meeting new people, and thinking of new things that I need to learn and do around here.  I’ve got a draft post in my head about the things I’ve learned so far and goals moving forward that I’m hoping to get down on paper (except not on paper, but what’s the internet version of that?) soon.  But to be honest, life is so busy right now, so I can’t promise when it will be.

I would love to know your tips for balancing work/life/parenting/blogging if you have any.  I’d also love to know what you love to read about on the blog as I continue to build my “to-write” list.  Let me know what you want to see in the comments below or send me an email.  I love to hear from you!

In Case You Missed It

I missed Monday’s post because we got back from the beach so late, but I did get to share a lovely dress with you on Wednesday in my What Mama Wore post!

  1. OH man, a beach weekend sounds amazing! We haven’t been in years since we moved back to Texas from California. But we are going this summer and I am EXCITED!

Oh fun! Fortunately, we get to go a few times a year – and we love it!

  2. Congrats on 1 month! The idea of a relaxing beach weekend with perfect weather sounds so nice to me! Esp. since I live in St. Louis and we have no beaches nearby! The Pinterest project looks great, I loooove powdered donuts (too much!).

Thank you! I’ve enjoyed it so much! The donuts were so easy to make and they were a huge hit!

  3. Happy one month on the new blog! I love your blog and love that it has something for everyone, even those of us that don’t have our own littles! I have an awesome planner that I use for keeping track of my work schedule, blogging schedule and just regular old life schedule. I’ve found it’s easier to put it on actual paper since I don’t sync my work emails to my phone. I got it on Etsy from Plum Paper Designs and I added a special blogging section where I can plan out posts by the week, track my stats, etc. I don’t always use it to its full capacity, but it’s super helpful (and cute!).

Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I also prefer to use pen & paper, but haven’t found the best planner for blog planning. I might have to check out the planner on Etsy. I’d love to have my personal to-do list in the same place, but maybe a different section from blog planning. It would be helpful for me to not have multiple little journals and agendas.

  4. Those donuts are adorable and who doesn’t love some time away on the beach. Have a great weekend! Jess at Just Jess

Thank you! They were really a hit! I hope you’ve also had a good weekend!

  5. Beach weekends are good for the soul – as is that porch! Happy weekending!

    1. Mary Leigh says:

Thank you! I really enjoyed it – and I also really enjoy sitting on that front porch!

  6. What fun 5 things on Friday! I am a mom of two girls and am still figuring out the balance part! I work at night after they are in bed or early in the morning before they wake and then during nap time but it doesn’t give me a lot of time. The donut rings are so cute!

    1. Mary Leigh says:

Thank you so much! It is tough to find the balance. It’s something that I am still working to find. I want to become more of a morning person – it’s the best way I can think of to get “more time” in my day.

Sounds like you had a busy week, but productive. Side note you have a wonderful blog!
